Sean O’Beirne

Sean O’Beirne has more than twenty years experience in the environmental assessment and management field. In that time he has lead some of the largest EIAs in South Africa most notably in the aluminium (Mozal Smelter), petrochemicals (numerous large scale EIAs for Sasol) and transport sectors (specifically Gautrain). Sean has many years of experience in working with international lenders and has worked in the Russian Federation, the Middle East and various countries in Africa in this capacity. He has conducted a number of due diligence reviews for lenders including for the Medupi, Kusile power stations and for the Ingula pumped storage scheme. Sean has also conducted a number of independent peer reviews on large scale EIAs including the PBMR, de Beers Pass Route, Nuclear 1, Sohar Aluminium and others. Sean is a certified environmental assessment practitioner having being certified in 2008. Finally, but importantly Sean takes an active interest in growing and developing the profession and participates actively in the International Association for Impact Assessment – SA chapter where he was President in 2006 and sits on the steering committee for the Environmental Impact Assessment and Management Strategy being formulated under the auspices of the National Department of Environment Affairs. Finally, but importantly, Sean also conducts training and periodically lectures at the University of the Free State and North West University.

Vici Napier

Vici Napier has a Master’s Degree in Conservation Biology and over 8 years’ experience as an Environmental Assessment Practitioner. She is also registered as a Professional Natural Scientist with SACNASP. As a Project Manager she manages a diverse range of projects and project teams. While her passion lies with the conservation and protection of the environment as well as training, she is fervent about project management; working within and supervising a greater project team, delivering quality on budget and within deadlines, efficiently and excellently.

Brad Johnson

Brad is an environmental management consultant, with a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science (Wits University), completed in 2007. He has been part of the project team for various EIAs within South Africa, and has been involved in a variety of other assessment projects.

Brad has also completed short courses in Small Business Management and Project Management. Brad has knowledge of the IFCs Performance Standards, the Equator Principles, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development performance requirements where he has assisted in the design of audit protocols. He has experience and capabilities in design, which he brings to bear in various environmental applications.
